hi
having just joined this group i thought i would introduce myself my name is peter and i live in st helens merseyside (england) i have had an interest in steam engins for years and have built various steam engines from a stuart 10v to a triple expansion engine
i have been looking for a steam model boat to build for some time and found this site from a posting on the model enginner's site.
i now have the time to play in my workshop (weather permitting) as i have now retired
i was thinking of a steam launch but why not a paddle sreamer i already have the plans for a diagonal engine but it may be a bit big
i will let you know on what i decide to build

Hello Peter,
Before you start to 'cut the wood/metal' please do not hesitate to ask the members here any questions. Paddlers can be unstable and many of us have seen hours of work come to no avail. There is a terrific amount of experience on this site.
Nice to have another member from the NW.

thanks tony quit impressed with the ammount of inffo on this site will have to ask for some help i think as to suiability for a beginner

Peter, the best advice I can give you, is build as light as you can and increase the draft. Then add the ballast. R.G.Y.

still haven't decided what to build yet still looking had a look at the strongbow drawings on john tom site
