Eddy will be off-line for some time as he became very ill on the 26th and was rushed into hospital for an emergency opperation. He has a hole in the wall of his stomach which allowed the contents to enter his body cavity, I took his wife to see him yesterday and he is on the mend but may be in hospital for a while. He sends his apologies to Stuart and all for his not being in touch!. At the moment he is stuffed full of drips, tubes etc. and has no way to reach a computer. Regards, Walter.

Thanks lads for all the messages- I will print them and pass them on. I have been to the hospital a couple of hours ago and he seems a little better though he is very subdued and still attached to drips and drains. He will not be allowed to eat for several days yet. Regards, Walter.

I was a little slow in picking up the fact that Eddy was ill and in hospital. However I spoke to him on the phone this morning and despite being in obvious discomfort he seemed quite chirpy.
Get well soon Eddy

My sincere thanks for all the good wishes guys, as you can see I'm now back home. Still in a lot of pain, and it will take some time to get over the surgery, so I won't be around anywhere near as much as I would normally, until start to heal a bit more and feel rather more comfortable.....
Anyway, the worst is now over, so things can only get better! :)
Regards
Eddy

I had stomach ulcers when I was younger, homemade chili was my weakness, before and after the surgery they had me on a Gastric three diet. It work out to the basic rule " If it tastes good spit it out".
Best of luck Eddy,
Gerald.

With the miracles of modern medicine and surgical tecniques, almost anything can be cured in just 7 days.
Over earlier decades, problems would linger for a week.
Like the others, it is great to see Eddy on deck again.

Hi eddy,
welcome back home, i think you should stay away from your beloved CURRY'S ;)
But you can book a table for September then you should allowed to have one ;)
regards Hans

Thanks again guys, and also to everyone that sent emails and PM's wishing me a speedy recovery.... I received over 120 emails and about 30 PM's, so there's no way I can respond to everyone individually!
Curries are definitely off the menu for now Hans - The amount I can eat at the moment wouldn't be enough to feed the average 2yr old! Still it's early days, and things will get beter over the coming weeks.
Regards
Eddy

As I had time on my hands over the holiday, I browsed the site, and found this group, how sad to find that Eddy had been taken ill and was in hospital, hopefully now it seems he is on the mend, and home.
My wishes for his full recovery in the New Year.
2010 was indeed not a good year for him regards his dear wife also, that is, I believe now recovering from her problems.
A Healthy New Year to you both.
Kind Regards, Len Knight.
-
Many thanks Len....
Today I got half of the clips removed from the wound, and the remainder will be taken out on monday, so it's a step in the right direction! :)
Now it's just a question of letting nature take it's course while things heal... with 25 tablets a day to take at the moment I rattle!! ;)
Regards
Eddy

Good to hear you're back Eddy!

Just when you think things are starting to progress.....
I've had a sharp stabbing pain at the bottom of my chest whenever I breathed deeply, coughed, or yawned etc. So I went to see my GP yesterday. She sent me off to hospital for a chest X-ray today - Which basically shows I have a chest infection.
I've been on anti-biotics for the last 4 weeks, so they aren't clearing it, and my doctor advises me to breath as deeply as possible to try and get the lung working fully and clear the infection - Easier said than done when it hurts like hell!
So what hapens now is anyone's guess :(
I don't mean to bore people with my problems, but I thought I'd keep you all up to date....
Regards
Eddy
-
Hi PD's...... :whistle ...I know you all join me in prescribing for Eddy the OZ medication for such chest infection conditions
Lots of RED wine & garlic...........for breakfast on WeetBix....then lunch on sardines [Omega3]........then for dinner add a good sprinkling of parmasean cheese on the garlic bread :a102 ...Derek

You are in the wars Eddy. Hopefully the weather will improve and with it your fortunes. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I wish you good health!

Your recipe to sustain Eddy leaves a lot to be desired; I would recommend to Eddy a good 8 or 12 year old malt whisky in generous proportions. I have one like Horlicks, before bed! every night.
Remember, like Domestos, whisky kills all known germs and its nicer to drink!
Get well soon Eddy,
Sandy Thomson

Hi PD's..... :hehe.....Sandy .... :sorry ...tis not a real OZ invention..... :picknose the Romans introduced such RED wine & garlic medications to your homeland 1000's of years ago :kiss1 .....Derek
-
Derek
They never got to my homeland, as I was born NORTH of the wall! (Agricola's Wall, not Hadrian's puny little garden thing)
