Hi everyone, I am looking for information on a paddle steamer named SHANNON.
She was built in 1892 by McIlwaine & MacColl at Belfast
Dec 1917: Sold to A.Iglessi Sons, Greece. Renamed CALLIOPE.
Nov 1919: Sold to Mediterannean & Black Sea Steamship, Greece
1923: Sold to K. Zalokostas, renamed ELLI.
1925: Scrapped.
I would like to know more on her owners and service until 1917.
A photo would also be most welcomed!

Hi Dido,
Firstly, welcome to Paddleducks!
I felt sure I'd heard of PS Shannon, but I've searched through everything I have and cannot find any information on her :(
I'll have a more detailed look tomorrow when I have more time....
Regards
Eddy

I finally found on a 1982 Ships' Monthly that she was at a time owned by "Limerick Steamship Co."
The article goes "The company's interest in activity within the Shannon Estuary extended in 1907 when it took over the iron paddle steamer Shannon (267 gross) on passenger work to Kiladysert, Tarbert and Cappa. This service ceased with the outbreak of war and the Shannon passed to Greek ownership in 1918."
