Title: Windows 7
Post by: Eddy Matthews on June 14, 2010, 07:44:45 AM
Hi Guys,

Some of you may remember I changed my computer in december, and it came with Windows 7 as the operating system. Well, I've been getting more and more frustrated by it's never ending errors, crashes, and god knows what else!

I thought Vista was bad, but Win7 plumbs new depths!

So to cut a long story short, today I decided enough was enough, and now I'm running Ubuntu - One of the free versions of Linux. Apart from a couple of minor glitches configuring my webcam, everything now seems to be working as it should. I can even reboot my machine in less than 5 seconds compared with the 3-4 minutes Win7 took!

I have to say that Linux is a steep learning curve, but nowhere near as bad as it used to be a few years ago! Ubuntu comes with a graphical interface similar to the Windows desktop, so now it's basically a question of click and play, rather than the old days of having to learn hundreds of command line options!

Time will tell wether it was a good move or not, but so far I'm happy :)

Eddy

I am still on Windows XP Pro, including my new too me laptop which I am now using. I have been told that if I have to up date to skip Vista and to go to Windows 7 Pro. My Wife has it at her work and so far has had no problems.
Regards,
Gerald.
