Title: Clyde steamers
Post by: Roderick Smith on May 19, 2010, 04:56:28 PM
I am in NZ with Cinema and Theatre Historical Society.
We have had cruises on a modern catamaran ferry, and on a racing yacht.
In one closed cinema, now a second-hand shop, I bought a copy of
Alan J S Patterson 'Victorian summer of Clyde steamers 1864-1888', David & Charles, 1972.

There was a companion volume to this, "Golden Years of the Clyde Steamers (1889-1914)" Both have been reissued as paperbacks by a different publisher in recent years, but the original edition of Golden Years as a profile plan of Duchess of Hamilton on the reverse of the duct jacket

Inside the dust jacket on my copy of "Victorian summer of the clyde steamers" is a line drawing of PS Iona of 1864.
Just noticed the price tag - £3.50 bought in 1981 on the Waverley :o
