MODEL SHIPWRIGHT number 128 is just out and well worth waiting for. First off, an excellent article on building a static full hull model of a Royal Navy paddle tug, VOLCANO. This 2 funnel side wheeler was built in 1899 in Glasow and is brimming with detail. Six page article with 7 (plus a colour phgoto on back cover) excellent photos of the model under construction. Plenty of hints and tips with some good thoughts on DIY etched brass. BUT.. now for the best bit- the FREE 2 sheet plan is the British excursion paddle steamer SHANKLIN. Plan is drawn to 96th scale, showing hull lines, cross sections/frames and a wealth of visible detail. Paddle detail is drawn to a whopping 36th scale. This plan alone is more than worth the cover price. Published (quarterly) by conway Maritime press. Cheers, Walter.

Is the magazine published internationaly?

It's not a magazine that's widely available, but if you have problems obtaining it you can always get it mail order from:
http://www.model-dockyard.com/
They are a UK company, but they do a SUPERB worldwide mail order service! I should point out that I have nothing to do with the company other than being a very satisfied customer.
Regards
Eddy

I purchased 30 from a fellow St. Louis Admiral used, they are most of the very first issues, I am pleased and go through them for ideas. I use many of their thoughts in my building. The fact they have been in business so long tells you they must do something correct.

Hello all, as some may be aware I too am an avid collector of the older issues of Model Shipwright quarterly journal. Now to the extent that I also subscribe to receive the current issues as they are printed. Back order copies are readily available from the publisher at GBP £ 9.95 ( US $ 17 ) or current ones as printed for £ 27.50 / year Overseas Surface i presume at £33.50 (or US $ 54.50 / Canadian $ 80.50) all post paid. This I would consider excellent value. The plans issued with each journal alone I consider a bargain whether or not I get around to building many of them.
So to recap if anyone is considering to subscribe or not I for one would highly recommend doing so, even if a wait is envisaged before it drops through the international front door. And if anyone is disposing of (I don;'t know why they would ! )some of the later series number journal there is always going to be a collector waiting to pay as good as you can expect to pay through www.abebooks.co.uk :D
cheers
Jim
p.s. the publisher is online at www.conwaymaritime.com e-mail to modelshipwright@anovabooks.com and finally the subscription telephone number is +44 (0)20 7314 1400. The bonus of visiting the website is that there are some slected photos from the journal viewable in colour. The only down-side the printing is in black & white otherwise.
