Hi to all, I have deleted some pictures and posted two new ones in the
album Nasookin RC. One is a better view of the drive mechanism of the
Nasookin, and the other is the steam engine just completed. It is a two
cylinder double acting oscillating engine 1/2" bore X 3/4" stroke. I hate to
say this but I've amazed myself on how well it works, tested on air so far,
boiler next.
Eddy, I seen a sketch in an old steam launch magazine, 1960, this is a simple drive for a sternwheel operation with pitman arms. The way it works is a crank is made inside the same as the paddle wheel crank, then the two are connected with pitman arms. This is like the side arms on the drivers on steam locomotives. The only thing is the arms would move parallel instead of the regular sliding crank operation. It is simple to drive the inside crank with gears or belts to get the correct speed on the paddlewheel.
