Eddy was mentioning that they would be serving Bacon Butties at the Paddleduck Day. Well liking food, especially bacon I had to find out what a "British Bacon Butty" is. First I found British Bacon Butty Recipes http://www.foodbuzz.com/recipes/1204786-british-bacon-butty
That looked to me like Back Back on on a Bun that we get at the fairs here, except that it said "British style bacon", well That lead me on a good explore. I finally found some information at http://www.flickr.com/groups/everythingsbetterwithbacon/discuss/72157601728526779/
One of the poster says,
"Well, I actually work for a company that produces Peameal Bacon in Canada. The peameal bacon in Canada is not the same as the Canadian Bacon sold in the US. What makes the Peameal Bacon different in Canada then in the US is the cut of pork (not the regular or streaky bacon).
The back bacon or Canadian bacon in the US is smoked...which makes it taste more like ham. The Peameal Bacon found in Canada is cured in a brine (like some of the US back bacon) but is not smoked, so it tastes more like fresh pork. The Peameal part of the bacon is just cornmeal. I believe the British Bacon is the same as Peameal Bacon, without the cornmeal (but I'm not sure if the UK bacon is cured). Peameal Bacon is cured pork loin rolled in cornmeal whereas "Canadian Bacon" in the US is more like ham."
Have I got it all straight now, and does everyone now want a Bacon Butty?

Hello Gerald, the back of nine o'clock here at the moment and yes, I did have my evening meal toight but your treatise on Bacon has got my salivation and tatse buds going. Off to make a buttie with my tea for the nine o'clocks as the call the late supper in Shetland ;D

Hi PD's...never have had the pleasure of travelling :vacation the world ......but have a few colleagues who SWEAR that OZ bacon is the best in the world :nahnah
We have natural range piggeries where the animals have thousand of square km to roam..........they may find a pea field..so hence pea meal fed....they may find a few a few dead birds or snakes......& lots of left over stale bread ...they may find a field of garlic so be pre spiced........they may find tailings of a winery so be pre pickled....so lets :06 & have it for OZ pork ....Derek :beer .... :sorry

As an ex-continental lorry driver and some what of an authority on bacon sarnies there IS only one bacon sarnie and that is British Next thing you know the Belgains will say they invented chips!!.
