Title: Isle of Wight Riverfest 2010
Post by: monarch on February 02, 2010, 08:13:43 PM
Hello All,

We have a little celebration each year of the River Medina which is held in Newport Quay called Riverfest.  This years event is planned to be a hands on, family orientated one with much more to see and do than previous years.  We are helping the footprint trust to bring extra activity to the river and wondered if any members of Paddleducks would like to bring their models along to either display or (better still) to use in the old Town Quay area on the day?
The event will take place on May 15th, and your models would be tested against a moderate ebb tide.  The tidal window is approx 1130-1600 and we will provide a safety boat to help any models that might get into trouble.
I am hoping that once the tide has fully receeded we will be allowed to hold an unofficial (and at your own risk) picnic on the river bed itself for a bit of charity fundraising silliness!!

On the day, we will have Monarch in steam and will be offering regular trips and drivng lessons; and it is hoped that the Classic Boat Museum will bring out some of the collection as well.

If anyone is interested, please drop me an email:  info@medinamonarch.co.uk

Hi all. I saw this item and thought that I could just have the model monarch ready for this event, but (there's always a but) in checking my work schedule I have to work that weekend so that's that plan scuppered  :(. I hope the event is successful. And Mat I still hope to bring her over to the island in July.
Cheers Chris

Typical Chris - Work never seems to match up with recreation somehow! I think the bosses plan it deliberately, just to pee off their employees.... Maybe it's their way of saying "up yours!"?

Nevermind, check September 19th for Paddler Day - A long haul, but hopefully it would be worth it?

Regards
Eddy
