Hi Old Man and welcome to the forum. We have lots of accumulated knowledge here so someone is bound to be able to help you.

Have a trawl through the 'Paddlewheels/Drive system heading and see if anything helps. If not then post your querey in that  secton (maybe with specific measurements etc) and we'll see what we can come up with!

All the best

Stuart

How B, Old Man.

Welcome to paddleducks. You've come to the right place for information. The guys on here helped me tremendously when I was building my Waverley.

I have a build blog under the construction section in which I detail all my mistakes. Please have a look around and hopefully find the answers to your build questions.

Cheers

Ken

Hi Guys Thanks for the welcome, My Waverly is 76inches by 19inches (sorry I aint gone metric yet) the problem is whilst I have loads of room in the hull Iam not sure wether to put 2 windsreen type motors or proper ones and how do I transfer drive via a worm and cogged wheel or pulley system. I have to be as economical as poss because SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED says i will have to devorce her and marry the boat that way I do'nt  get any pocket money. Hope you can help.

                                             Regards old man

Hi Pd's .....we  :gathering think ''old man"is a pretty disconcerting handle  :sorry ....but have a look at the following WEB site .....from 2002 by Brett S Hallett...one of our original members

http://users.impulse.net.au/dragoncity/

He displays a trail paddler with two 12 volt automotive windscreen motors ....may provide a few ideas......Derek :towel

I have an 80" sidewheel paddler that used to be powered by one car heater fan motor. Use a 5mm pitch chain drive as it is easy to set up and easy to change a sprocket if you need to play with different ratios. Converted mine to steam and it is a LOT more fun now. Have a look at the photos in my photogallery. As Mr Nike would say "Just Do It", its easier to get forgivness than permission! Cheers, Ian.

Old Man, Will not be sailing for a bit going to the sum hopefully. In the mean time you can see some of my boats on the Gallery. Or go to Construction then Duke of Devonshire to see my latest project. Or Steam and simple boiler. I also have 3 sail boats If it's windy. I will look forward to meeting you.. Hope the photo wets your appetite. Geoff
