Title: TALISMAN
Post by: sandystrone on January 06, 2010, 08:57:58 AM
Here's a rare photo of a very busy TALISMAN on the winter relief replacement for MAID OF ASHTON's Holy Loch run.

Normally one of the other MAID'S relieves the ASHTON, but was probably on a liner tender.
TALISMAN used to perform the only run on a winter Sunday, from Craigendoran (later Gourock) to Rothesay.

I found this unfortunate photo of Talisman whilst looking through a box of cuttings I have.
Taken early/mid 1950s, she seems to have ran aground just north of Arrochar pier at the head of Loch Long.

Hi Kim,
Yes that is the same day 03/07/52. She refloated after 3 hours with no damage, and resumed normal service the next day.
TS Marchioness of Graham, at Arrochar, on a cruise from Ayr that day, picked up her stranded passengers...she is just visible on the left of your pic.
