Title: searching for fittings
Post by: andy on December 15, 2009, 07:16:29 AM
Hello,

one of my steamer models has a sun protection roof made of a fine cotton. And this has to be fitted at the wire sstructure going around. And I do not want to sew only, I want to fit such little round eyholes into the cottoen, which will take the thread.

But inner diametre only 2mm about!! Material brass!

The germen word for it is "Rundkausche".

30 years ago, I got such eyeholes, but today I cannot find.

Can anybody help me and tell me a source?

Andreas

The smallest I know of Andreas are 3mm dia - used for miniature electrical stuff. Many model Dolls House companies sell them.

I HAVE MADE SMALL HOLES IN SAILS WITH A COCKTAIL STICK, DIP THE END IN SUPER GLUE ( THE THICK KIND) AND PUSH THROUGH THE CLOTH AND REVOLVE THEN REMOVE BEFORE GLUE SETS. WHEN DRY A STRONG PRMENENT HOLE IN FORMED. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS WILL HELP.  R.G.Y.

Andreas,

Try "Sails Etc" - http://www.sailsetc.com/fitrig.htm#

Scroll down to "Small Eyelets" and click on the i (information symbol) to see a drawing of the eyelets and get more info....

Thanks Eddy, this could be a possibility for me. But these parts have to be riveted with the washers, as I understand. Think, I have to update my glasses before making the rivet- tooling for that?

A pre- riveted kind of this cannot be found?
