Hi Stuart,
send me a pm with the amount you need and i'm sure i can do you a deal.

Yes, very interesting, Kim, I shall be keeping an eye out for any forthcoming CSP hull/plan sets.
Wheels look fantastic by the way 8)
-
Many thanks Clark,
Currently i am researching / drawing up a plan for a set of wheels from the Duchess of Fife. Not 100% about manufacturing them as a working set yet but they are very nice wheels maybe as a static set.
I am looking into a semi kit for Mercury / Caledonia (1934) at the moment. details to follow soon.
Thanks again,
Kim
-
Kim,
Where is this model of the Fife?
-
I'd be a maybe for a set of Fife wheels, a few years ago bought a very old model of the ship on ebay, couldnt tell from the pics how good or otherwise it was. Got it home and surveyed it up and heart sank to find a noticable twist in the hull and very fragile all wooden wheels!
Have stripped it down and chopped the bow and stern off, with some reshaping of the prom deck and a brand new bow and stern i think the twist will be removed, or at least unnoticable, i will at least have a straight centre line to work from to restore symmetry!
Really wonder if its worth the bother, wouds probally have been as easy to start from scratch, especially as i no longer plan to work in 1:48, but have started now so when time permits, I will finish! So if a suitable set of wheels were available, I might just go for them....
-
Kim,
I'm going to make a new set of rims for an existing wheel kit I have. the kit has 9 float rims, I'm going to make 7 float rims & use them for my Marchioness of Lorne.
Where is this model of the Fife?
Mercury, I would say that model in the pic is Duchess of hamilton 1890

Sorry I moved this reply from Mercury while splitting the topic into more appropriate areas. I hope this will now read properly.

Eddy, I have spent months researching manufacturers and chasing them to get my products to me in a reasonable time. Should have just gone straight to Stuart really shouldn't I.

I have a plan for a model of the Duchess of Fife, acquired about 1960. It is still available on the X List see the MY HOBBYSTORE WEB SITE. R.G.Y.

Hi all,
Just a quick note to say that I visited the Clyde Model Boats website earlier today, and Kim has obviously been putting a LOT of work into it!
Lots of new additions to the site, and lots more to come from the sound of it, so if your after any model boating items give it a thought - Lets try to give a fellow Paddleduck a bit of support!
I know for certain that Kim will bend over backwards to help if he can, so even if that part your looking for isn't listed on his site, drop him an email and ask if he can help!
Regards
Eddy

Hi Kim,
and happy new year! You have been busy, thats a nice varied selection of new hulls/fittings. I'm sure they will prove popular indeed.
all the best
Clark
-
Hi Kim,
You've been busy again!
Perhaps a photo of each one of the new hulls/vessels would be a good idea? I know very little about any of the turbine steamers, and I'm sure others won't know what each model is either?
Regards
Eddy
-
Hi Eddie,
I hope that you are on the mend ... :)
The Viper is a very impressive looking ship.
http://website.lineone.net/~tom_lee/snaefell4.htm
http://www.simplonpc.co.uk/IOM_Snaefell_Viper.html
I think she sailed from Montgomerie pier in Ardrossan to the Isle of Man.
Hmmm .... how long is the hull, Kim.
Edit: just checked the Clyde website ... 315ft.
-
Hi All,
Eddy, I will probably have time over the weekend to go through the site as there are a few things needing tidied up. You're right some more detail will be added.
Sandy -
Yes she is a nice big boat at 1:48 she has a hull just over 200cm and a beam of 25cm.
Surprisingly / reassuringly i have had a fair bit of interest in Viper despite her size and have only one Viper hull left at the reduced price.

Kim

Hi All,
Well the clock has gone 12 and it's the new year ... Happy new year to you all!!
Last year we had a January sale but with everything else that has been happening in my life recently i haven't been able to give thought to a January sale...
But .. in true January sale tradition ....
I will offer all Paddle duck members a 10% discount on all our stock paddlewheels.
Now maybe you don't have a hull or project for them so perhaps i should offer a discount on the hulls as well?.... OK you got me ... I will offer 20% off all Paddle steamer hulls if ordered with a discounted set of wheels.... Fair?
This offer is only available to Paddle Duck members registered before this post and is only available until the 20th of January 2012.
All memebrs taking advatage must contact me by phone as my web site dosn't allow application of discount .. or maybe it does and i haven't figured it out yet ...
Happy New year to you all!

Kim

and a happy new year to you too Kim, and family......don't think mayhem members would let me get away with putting paddle wheels on one of my lifeboats, but great offer none the less.

Busy times ....
As some of you are aware i have suspended my online shop .. bummer, i almost had it ready !
Given the potential fines for not getting things right i have decided to suspend my site.
My efforts now are towards a catalogue which will be available shortly by telephone request only!
I have been tasked recently with a big commission job. This requires many hours on the Laser cutter which i cannot leave unattended.
I would ask that customers continue to leave an answer phone msg and i will get back to you ASAP!
Regards,
Kim
-
As most of you are aware Paddler Day (2012) is just around the corner .... Yipee :06
I can get away from the tools and just concentrate on enjoying the hobby ......
Eddy .. are we doing curry this year ... I could do with one!
Look forward to seeing you all.
Regards,
Kim

Hi All,
During my recent quiet spell on Paddle Ducks i have been investing my time researching & understanding 3D Printing to the extent that i can now offer this service to you.
Initially it will be on a drawing supplied service but as time allows i will be able to offer a drawing service.
This is an exciting development and very much hope the Paddler guys can make use of this technology.
Also ... as a sweetener to the boss ...aka the lady of the house ... we can offer cnc chocolates .....
For more info just get in touch -
mail @ clyde model boats . co .uk (leave out the spaces)
So we can now offer the following services -
Laser Cutting
Laser Engraving
Photo Etching
Water Jet Cutting
CNC Milling
CNC Routing
CNC Turning
CAD - Computer Aided Design / Drawing service
CAM - Computer Aided Manufacturing
New!!
CNC Chocolate manufacturing - Computer Numerical Control - Chocolate Manufacturing ..... go on you know the wife will like them ..... might even make the next project easier to slip in to the house!
Regards,
Kim
-
Kim can you post a video of the CNC Chocolate manufacturing ?
Regards,
Gerald.
-
HI Gerald if you send me a drawing i will do you a video ... as long as it doesn't cost me too much in material & time.
Regards,
Kim
-
I didn't have anything specific in mind just wondering if it works like the 3D printers?
Regards,
Gerald.
-
Hi Gerald,
I have one of the 'early' 3d printers that I'm rigging up for 3d Printed Chocolate .. so a quick search on You tube will give you an idea of what I'm up to.
The big disadvantage is the 'spiders webs' on un supported material ....
With the new machine all unsupported areas are supported (during manufacturing) by a powder which is dissolved at the end of processing.
The machine also boasts Dual Head ..... meaningtwo colours can be used.
I hope that is a little more informative.
I can also Laser Cut other food stuffs .... Last years Family Christmas cake featured many laser cut Chocolate & Icing shapes and laser etched Icing ... If your interested laser etched icing has a great taste ... similar to toffee !
Mmmm ....
but lets try get back to paddlers ... my waist line would benefit !
All the best,
Kim
-
Hi Kim
Sounds like your 'modern' 2-colour 3d printer is like the one featured in that Youtube video that I responded on a couple of days ago? (A 2-colour spanner being made).
Cheers.....Bernie
-
Hi Bernie,
Spot on that's what were up to..
Sticking with the food theme a little longer ...
This little project reminds me of craft & design ... lets make a salt shaker ...
This is way more interesting than school stuff ... here is my salt shaker ... wonder if id get a better mark at school with this effort :)
Neil, if your looking in ... ;D Perhaps you can award a more favourable grade for my CV? :)
Regards,
Kim
-
Hi Kim...
Most impressive!!...presumably now you could do custom paddle wheels from a client's drawing (CAD or paper)?
Cheers...Bernie
-
Hi Bernie,
Yes we can do custom wheels .. allways could but yes this does give the possibilities another dimension.
CAD or Paper - Paper is likely to be more expensive unless you have figured out every dimension.
3D drawing is time consuming so everything you can do to speed the process makes it cheaper!
Regards,
Kim
-
Thanks Kim.....I don't have an immediate need but will certainly talk to you when I get round to the 'Nemesis'.
Cheers...Bernie
-
Neil, if your looking in ... ;D Perhaps you can award a more favourable grade for my CV? :)
Regards,
Kim
Hi Kim.............
A*......Preliminary drawings and development work first class,
good set of measurements shown to work well,
good choice of materials,
good complexity of work,
excellent mating of top to base, showing technique and method
excellent moulding skills,
aesthetically pleasing and good grip for those arthritically challenged
Overall finish excellent......A*
keep up the good work and you will make the grade........mind you.......according to that tozzer MP and Secretary of State for Education, (Mr Bean Look alike) Mr. Gove its only a second rate gcse anyway.......so you'll have to try much harder next time to get an "O" level
-

Well i might have been quite for a while but not without good reason. I have been busy the last year and if it helps our customers in the future then its been worth it!

Gee whizz, time moves so fast!
Anyway before the new year arrives i though i better say hello and a wee bit of an update.
Paddle wheel kits have been doing really well for us although or supply chain has not always been great this year, I'f you have been caught up in it then i apologies. ... one of the problems of being in a niche market!
Anyway, as most are aware we have branched far from just supplying paddle wheels and hulls and our next new offering is well ... pretty new in the real world!
You know we brought you the X- bow ahead of the market, only to have it copied!... what do they say, imitation is compliment...
Only fair Paddleducks gets the breaking news first ..
Next from our Modern Stable will be Rem Gambler!
Based around a cnc faired plug .. Very nice! Especially if you like ugly ships!
Oh, and we have redesigned (cnc cut) our X-bow to be more accurate! and still cheaper than other suppliers...
Sign up to our news letter via our website to hear more.

Km

The problem is that your website is rarely updated Kim, so none of us can see any of the new offerings you have! :(
