Title: New to Paddlers
Post by: tkalkay on June 24, 2009, 08:04:50 AM
Hello,

First of all I would like to apologize for my English. I am a retired Civil Engineer from Ankara Turkey. I am constructing mainly work boats. At model boating my main concern is the scale. Most of the plans that I bought missing details. I do prepare AutoCad drawings and see if all the parts of drawing fit to each other.

I am planing to construct a RC model tug boat. During my internet search I found this great forum.  I am sure this will be very helpfull for me.

Welcome to Paddleducks tkalkay,

Your English is very good - At least a thousand times better than my Turkish!!

Turkey had a huge number of paddlers operating at one time, so hopefully you can help some of our members with details of them?

We are here to help, so please ask any questions you may have, and we'll try our best to answer them.

Regards
Eddy

I second the welcome to Paddleducks. There are some interesting paddle tugs that are perfect for R/C . Check the construction forum for tugs and at least one book is available on paddle tugs by Thomas, British Steam Tugs.  The Ottoman Steam Navy by  Ahmet Guyeryuz lists a section on tugs but shows  only 1 outboard profile and no other drawings.

I have couple of pictures of the paddlers used in Istanbul. When I get organized I will send them if some one interested. Even I do remember one of them and been on board between the both sides of Istanbul Asia and Europe. I am old enough ( 70 ) to remember when this was operational.
