I understand departure from Penarth will now be 0745 and not 0815 as previously advertised. Spread the word . . .

I'm going on the Saturday evening trip down the Severn Estuary, from Newport to Penarth and back. Anyone interested in coming along?
I'm afraid I couldn't take the day trip as it would be too long at sea this this old fella. I shall take my trusty camera and post some pics when I get back. :beer

Don't forget to have a chat with Walter Snowdon whilst your aboard - You'll find him manning the gift shop. Though you may have just missed him? I'm not sure if he leaves the ship early on saturday or early sunday?...

Due to operational reasons the showboat cruise from Newport on Saturday night will not happen - passengers doing the day trip will join the vessel at Newport Lock in the morning (the morning cruise from Penarth to Newport cancelled) and these will then be coached back to Newport from Penarth in the evening.
The evening cruise from Penarth will go ahead as planned though and will be a 'channel' instead of the 'Usk' cruise.
Sorry to be the one with this bad news for you Kenny! I can highly recommend the 2 ships day cruise from Clevedon on Wednesday when you'll get to go on the 2 ships in Waverley Excursions fleet! 8)

Hi PD's....thanks Chris.....this is a great example of hull plate stress rippling between frames..........certainly more evident in current warship hulls....but I have not seen this in older hulls....Derek

I will think about the wednesday trips. I used to sail my yacht around the coast until sea sickness overtook me, so I don't know if I can come out to the islands. Maybe I'll just watch from the quayside. :-[

The rippling has been evident since parts of the hull were replated during the ships rebuild (2000 & 2004 I think)...the same effect is also apparent on aft parts of the hull also.
Was not originally this way, hull was smooth & ripple free!!
