Title: Metcalf mouldings "Albion" hull
Post by: djcf on June 01, 2009, 08:25:48 AM
Hi All,

P.S. Albion 1:48 hull

Does anyone know if this hull is still available?  I may be wrong but I seem to remember being told that Metcalf Mouldings were no more???

Hopefully not, I already have one of these hulls in storage, but want another for the distant future!!!

regards
Clark

They also have the Berry Castle hull and I corresponded with him about both. They could not provide any pictures of the hulls or of the full size prototypes but perhaps somebody can steer you to a picture or two on this site or on the net. Cheers, Ian.

Clark i was just reading an earlier post re making a Kylemore on the Albion hull.
Off the top of my head i can't help as to wether the hull is correct or not but i know a man that does and has a very nice model of Kylemore.
If it's of interest let me know and i can get some pics

Hi Kim,
That would be interesting if you could get a hold of the Kylemore photos...she could be on the agenda...

Basic hull dimensions 200' long 25' (I think, - of the top of my head) broad, for Albion.

I intended to make Glen Rosa but I've seen a few about, fancy something different

looked at a few paddlers with similar dimensions & its down to Kylemore (or Strathmore), & Marchioness of Lorne 1891. I am ordering plans for both of these from Glasgow Uni Archives / Ballast trust, just waiting on them getting back to me.

I like both of the above, and I think the Albion hull (with modification) would do both, thats why I was looking for another Metcalf hull & do a dual build hopefully!!!
