Title: Australian Made Steam Engines
Post by: kiwimodeller on May 10, 2009, 08:48:09 PM
Hi, can any of our Australian friends (I use the term loosely) throw any light on a series of Australian made steam engines. I have come across a 2005 catalogue from a New Zealand importer of train bits which offered some engine kits which I presume by the names originated in Aus. There was listed a Euchuca single verticle, a Mildura twin verticle, a Pevensy single horizontal and, most interesting for a paddler, a Gem twin horizontal, 3/4 by 3/4 with reversing gear as an option. Does anybody know if these are still available and if so from whom? Were/are they any good? Thanks, Ian.

These engines are the copies of STUART engines (f.е. MILDURA=D10) but casted from brass... Nearly 2 times cheaper but of the same quality. Know it for sure being the owner of the MILDURA engine. Will try to find direct link to their web-site.

Cheers,
Engineman.

Thanks for that both. It was an earlier MBM catalogue that I found them in Hans and I have now downloaded the latest one. I was a little surprised to see them selling alongside the NZ made Quayle engines which I am told are very good but obviously the Australian ones are good too judging by Enginemans experience of the Mildura.
