This show is being run by MODEL WORLD and will take place on Sat and Sun 28/29th March,2009 at
Temple Park,
John Reid Road,
South Shields,
Tyne & Wear from 10 till 5 Sat and 10 till 4 Sun
Entry is £2.50 and numerous trade stands will be there.
This will be the first big exhibition run in this area for about 35 years, the last one being in Newcastle Civic Centre basement.

From the sounds of things, the show is being well supported by the trade and the local clubs, so let's hope its a success!
Sadly I'm away that weekend, so I won't be able to attend, so I hope someone will take a camera and capture any paddlers that are on display?

I went to the show today (sunday). the standard of models on show was very high and significantly scratch built models outnumbered kit builds by a large margin.
There were only six paddlers there. Sandys big waverly. A small waverley (about 60th scale). Eric Newtons Alligator and stern wheeler, aGlagow and a small semiscale tug.
Steam buffs would have had a field day. i have never seen so many steam boats in one place. I counted 38 steam powered models but there were others which looked steam powered but i couldnt see the works as they were closed down. Lots of steam straight runners. One chap had about nine flash steam hydroplanes on his stand, all vintage classics.
The cream for me was a large TURBINIA with TRIPPLE steam turbines driving all three shafts with the original arrangement of three props on each shaft. The quality of workmanship was out of this world. There were about ten traders there, none of which seemed to be doing much trade.
Sadly the turnout of public and visiting modellers was very low. Most of the time there were more people manning the club stands as there were visitors. I understand the organisers have booked the venue for next year but if the turnout is as poor i dont think they will bother again. A good show. regards, walter.
