Hi all,
A lot of regular users have said that would like to contribute towards the running costs of the website, so to this end we have setup a "Donation" button on the left hand menu.... The default amount for a donation is £10 UK Pounds, but you can select whatever amount you wish to donate, you aren't stuck with that!
Just choose the amount to donate and click on the PayPal button to complete the transaction.
Wether you donate or not, is purely a matter for you to decide, there are no extra perks - Just the knowledge that you have our sincere thanks, and we know that all our hard work is appreciated!

Hi PD's.....Eddy .... :sorry...I stu**ed up...in the future.....could members accept the default units of 10 [ten] ...then irrespective of country of origin select UK pounds ....would the Paypal calculator then calculate from the nominated country of origin????? :picknose

1) I am credit by 0.25GBP
2) the British Government will tax me on my over payment as an overseas [OZ] person ? :porkies
3) do I get a valid tax receipt as I am sure that PD's are registered as a valued entity :whistle .................:gathering....just Joking - Derek

Sorry all....I just don't understand :shoot...& even after studying economics at the University of Wollongong :ranting [well in my latter years but did not achieve a high distinction nor even a pass.....as I failed year one :nahnah]
If tonyh deposits £10.01 (GBP) it is credited £10.00 (GBP)
But when Tug--Kenny deposits £10.00 (GBP) it is credited £9.46 (GBP)
No wonder the British economy is in a mess when your mathematicians convert 1 new pence into 54 new pence ...minus the original 1 new pence

The solution is simple Derek, Ken (and most others) paid via PayPal which charges a fee for handling the transaction. Tony didn't pay using PayPal, so I manually added his donation..... The software isn't really designed for that situation, so I have to show some fee - Hence donation £10.01 and fee 0.01, resulting in a net of £10.00 - I could have setup the software so that no-one was able to view donations or totals, but that's not the way I wish to do things!
Nothing underhanded or strange going on at all.....
As I said to Tony, although his money wasn't sent by PayPal, I prefer to list ALL donations openly so everyone knows exactly how much we've raised.
I also have one more donation to list, which is just waiting for a cheque to clear, but it will be shown in a few days.... I rest MY case!

Finally, I'd like to that everyone that has made a contribution every penny is gratefully received and will go to support the website :bravo

Some of the money raised so far has already been put to good use - I've just paid the Domain Name fees for the next twelve months.
Our sincere thanks to everyone that has donated so far, it all helps, and it's nice to see you think all our hard work is worthwhile!

Hi Guys,
I just wanted to say a really BIG thankyou to everyone that has made a donation. They are greatly appreciated, and they all help to keep the website going.
The next purchase on the list will probably be some new software for the Photo Gallery, and perhaps a replacement for the Downloads software - I'm looking into both right now as we could do with something a little more flexible in both areas.
Then we have our hosting fees due in a few months :(
But rest assured, the website will continue even if we don't receive enough income via donations, Walter Snowdon, David Allinson, and myself will continue to make up any shortfall if needed, exactly as we have for the last 6 years - Fortunately Paddleducks keeps growing every year, and has developed a real sense of "community" which makes it all worthwhile for us!

How about an incentive .....
Eddy i have a stock of approx 50 of the Craft Knife sets below which if it helps raise funds / keeps the site afloat would be happy to donate for use as an incentive to donate to the sites funds.
Each set retails at approx £7.00 - £15.00 depending on where you do your shopping.
I'm happy to donate my stock Free of Charge if they are used for the benefit of the site.
I have posted a link to a similar item listed on amazon.
Perhaps they could be sent as a thank you present to those gifting say over £20. Which should allow enough for postage and a considerable sum left over for the sites funds.
Have a think and let me know.

Secondly, If I sent a US postal money order, does your bank charge you the priveledge of cashing it? If so, I'll find a source for quid notes. All I have left from travels is some Irish Punt notes and a few coins.

one question please, why do you want donations made via paypal? if you had created something similar for donations by creditcard i could do it immediately, otherwise you have to wait till September ;)

The main reason is that it's easy to do Hans - If I setup creditcard transactions it costs us a great deal of money, which sort of defeats the point! :(
But I'll take cash, cheques, old washers, anything I can get my hands on!! :hehe
