2009 Paddler Day, to be held on the 20th September 2009, from 10am till 6pm, at The Waterpark, Middleton-St-George, Near Darlington, Co. Durham. For those with satnav, the closest postcode is DL2 1JG
This is the third annual Paddler Day to be staged at Darlington & District Model Boat Club. The first one (in 2007) proved to be a huge success, even allowing for the attrocious weather we experienced that year! And we strive to make each subsequent one even bigger and better!! This is a unique event in the UK, with Paddlers of all descriptions on the water, and on display. Please remember, that it's Paddlers ONLY on the water though, no other craft will be allowed to sail.
Parking is available close to the lake, food and drinks will be available, as well as toilet facilities etc. Both indoor and outdoor display areas will be available for visitors to use.
A Transmitter Pound will be in operation to help ensure the safe operation of all models, and a modest fee of two pounds per person will allow you to sail on the lake throughout the day. If two or more people are on the same frequency, a system of 30 minute "slots" will be in use to ensure everyone has a fair chance of sailing their models.
A "Bring and Buy" stall will be in operation, should you wish to buy or sell any of those odds and ends. Items for sale DO NOT have to be paddler related, they can be any general modelling items, from tools, parts, motors, hulls, full kits or models etc etc. 10% commission will be payable by the seller on all successful sales. All fees go to the Darlington & District MBC to help cover the costs of staging the event.
Everyone is welcome, even if you don't have a paddler, come along and talk to some of the owners/builders of these fine models - You might just get hooked! ;)
