Hello everyone, I am an Ex Royal Navy rating,( 35 years man & boy) and have had a love for paddlers as long as I can remember. I spent the first 18 years of my life in Australia in, on and around some of the paddle steamers out there as my Father was very interested in them. I live in not so sunny Somerset, near Yeovil and have 2 Grandsons who are going to feel the full force of my interests as soon as they are old enough. I like what I see so far, and hope to be around for a good while.........Cheers mates........Tony...........or as I prefer, Smudge.. ;) ;)

Swordfish fairey eh???. I take it you spent some orf your service on carriers!!! A great welcome to you, I think you will like it here. Permission to come aboard granted- as long as you have a bottle of pussers oblivion with you. Regards, walter.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, yes I did serve on a few "Flat Tops" but not old enough for Swordfish when it was in service, however I have just completed 10 years with the Royal Navy Historic Flight as Swordfish Flt Engineer/Aircrew, hence the moniker. I have not built a paddler as yet, but am looking around for something to get me started. I rather fancy the Lulonga, can you still get the plans/hull for it?? ....Cheers......Smudge....... ;D

What, you worked on THAT Swordfish ?. My hat goes off to you. It is ALWAYS my favourite sight at air displays it never fails to stir my blood. from now on you are no newby to me - welcome aboard ADMIRAL !!!! Regards, walter. Oh, an old navy joke- whats the difference between a picket boat and an Admirals barge?. ANSWER- one has a gun turret the other has a GIN turret.

Walter
One minute its "pussers" rum, next minute its Gin, are you a boozer and
are you old enough or man enough to have sippers with pussers. Sandy ;D

Hi Walter, thanks for the warm welcome, yes that Swordfish, although I have had to give up flying as I am getting too old for it, the Navy has a cut off at 60, I can still stand up in the back and salute, but rules is rules. Thanks for the promotion, but I never was an officer, I always worked for my living. Once lower deck, always lower deck I suppose. Cheers............Smudge ;) ;)

Hi Sandy and Smudge. (sounds like a comedy double act). I will have you know I have had sippers many times AND I have drunk NEAT Dunderburg Rum AND stood up to tell the tale. Ask our Aussie friends about it. It is the most vile stuff imaginable!! Regards, walter.

Walter,
Have you ever had true Newfie Screech, Not the watered down stuff they sell at there Board of Health, but the real rotgut stuff?
Regards,
Gerald
