Hello there-
I am new not only to this membership, but to on-line forums in general, so kindly forgive any faux pas. I'm a completely isolated model engineer in America. I have made a few stationary engines and am now working on a live steam boat model. I found out about this organization when looking for answers to some problems I'm having with my current project. How cool to discover a very active forum. I have had so many simple questions that couldn't be answered, as I have no contact with anything like the body of steam hobbyists in the UK.
I hope that I can at some point provide help to others who, like me, have had to bump their heads in the course of learning the hobby.

Welcome to the forum Dan.
I live in an isolated are of the U.S. too. It's called Los Angeles! :hehe. It's amazing what the internet can bring to your door, even in the most isolated areas. I have no experience with live steam, though I do possess a 2 cylinder that I inherited from my father. One day I hope to build a vessel to utilize it.
There are many members on this site that do have a wealth of knowledge and experience with live steam so feel free to ask your questions and you should get some knowledgable responses. Remember; There are no dumb questions, only the ones not asked.
Again, welcome, Randy

Welcome, Dano. It's always nice to be in touch with isolated members. That's what this club is all about. Most of us are in our little sheds, all busy doing something or other.
Whilst I personally might not be able to help you. I'm sure there are others on this site who can. Also, we might enquire from you about your steam engines if we may.
Catch you again

Hi Ken- Thanks for your message. I would be delighted to share any info, pictures, etc. regarding my engines. My engines so far have been stationary with the exception of a Stuart Compound and my current project. The current one is a marine twin, 1/2 bore, 1/2 stroke.
Regards,
Dan

HI Dan,
Welcome aboard! You cannot be isolated on this site, the banter just keeps on rolling in. I too am a 'newbie' and interested in steam although I have not built a paddler, oops PADDLER, and said with reverence, you never know who may be reading this.
I have found that even if a member cannot help they always point you to someone who can so do not be afraid to post queries as they often lead to great discussions from which we all learn.
All the best, Fred Graham
