Title: twin drive
Post by: pudlpadlr on July 01, 2008, 07:28:14 AM
These are my homemade drives. 6V motors, stainless steel gears/shafts from two encoders found in trash. They are rather noisy but I think will be allright once in the boat. (http://)

Cool Beans!  How did that work out?

Amazing how separate builds can com up with the same idea, even at different scales.  I'm planning a 30 ft dual-sternwheeler.  Plan to use two electric scooter(sit-on type.  Looks like a modernized Vespa) motors, and roto-tiller reduction drives.  From that, I'm going to be driving two Pitman's, through a mechanism I just found, on each wheel, with two wheels at the stern.  She'll be able to turn within her own length, do turns from dockside, etc.
