Have you noticed that company's spelling mistakes. I tink they need tae go back to skkool.
On the drop down bar Paddle = Paddel, and one of the hulls titles Talisman = Taliaman.

Post by: Eddy Matthews on June 16, 2008, 01:24:21 AM: I've never seen a model of the Berry Castle - So to my mind there are two points here, first it would be very unusual, so it would appeal to me for that reason. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, it's a hull with a VERY narrow beam AND a very shallow draft - So top weight is going to be a major concern, and it needs to be built as light as possible!

The TALISMAn had quite a narrow hull and small draft, and my original had stability problems, so I deepened the hull lines for ABCO

Models by Design have either bought the moulds, or are simply acting as a retailer? I don't know which is correct?

was that the one in model boats mag recently that had pontoons permanently attached to the hull and a large bilge pump running continuously in the seating area? :-[

Post by: sandystrone on June 17, 2008, 07:56:45 AM: It was ABCO who produced my designs for TALISMAN and AFRIC STAR, and when Alan Brown died they were passed on, on the demise of ABCO. He was going to produce a hull based on my WAVERLEY.
If you look at some of the adverts for WAVERLEY hulls, the drawing uses the TALISMAN hull with the WAVERLEY windows added!
Since when did the WAVERLEY have a straight bow, hers is raked!

...he has a rather nice looking jeanie deans on there too! I see the jeanie has a weighted keel fin for stability, presumably the wilton castle was already too heavy to add any more weight...

I've been in touch with Bob Abell in the past, and chatted about his JEANIE DEANS that you mention.
My model at 78" long has no ballast at all just some big 12AH nicad cells which weigh enough to give a loaded weight of 35lbs (not yet into decimal here!) but the draft has been increased about 3/4". Sandy
