Title: It's lonely here!
Post by: Dinosaursoupman on April 29, 2008, 02:23:18 PM
Hey PD's,

It's lonely here between the hours of 5-10pm PDT.  :( :( :( I guess the Kingdom is retiring for the evening and Ozzies have yet to awaken from a beautiful nights slumbering.

Eddy, I do notice that a lot of guests are usually viewing during this time, EDTimers-PDtimers like me I assume. The question begs; How much of the site can guests see? If I put out a rant to join up and share in the fun, will our viewing guests be able to see it? ???

Hey guests, come join the fun! It doesn't cost a thing and is well worth it to see all the "hidden" files that only junior grade or better members have access to ;) ;)

The number of "guests" is deceiving Randy - A lot of them are actually search engines crawling over the site (Google, Yahoo, MSN etc). For every 20 guests that are shown, maybe only 1 is a real person! :)

Since we're a group of friends with a similar interest, I think someone should stand up and volunteer to keep Randy company between the hours of 5-10pm PDT.

My vote would go to Derek Warner  :whistle :hehe

I had always memorised west-coast USA as 18 h behind east-coast Australia, but I have just checked: only 17 h behind.
Hence 17.00 to 22.00 in San Francisco is 10.00 to 15.00 Melbourne time.
The kiwis could come on at 12.00 to 17.00.
Clearly, for more than one reason, it is time to recruit some South African members.
I notice that the Paddleducks time chart has vanished; I used a general web reference:
www.timeanddate.com/worldclock
Until 17.00 PST Tuesday, an ok filler is www.youtube.com/watch?v=xar5sFWPRQU (Elvis Presley)

Hi PD's....& when we  are :thinking more about this...I reflect

1) it was Randy that asked for the prize
2) it was Eddy that offered a sloppy K*SS from Walter
3) the prize winner {Randy}  :hammer :hammer but then suggested I should have the prize
4) a few weeks back I chastized Red{Jim} for posting one of his mates with [with torn]  FISH net stockings :nono :offtopic

And now your moderator Eddy suggests that I should keep Randy happy......in his small hours  :shoot :sorry

5) what would Karina think if she read this  :ranting

So my PD' colleagues.......I do look forward 24/7 & at least twice per day to read your posts about paddlers & live steam................and look forward to continuing this  etc......regards  :beer :nahnah :hehe

I never suggested you should keep him "happy", I said keep him company - But hey, if you want to keep him happy I'm a broadminded chap  :whistle I'd imagine Karina would smile gently in the knowledge that we obviously understand your sometimes warped and devious mind better than you may like  :hehe

Oh dear PD's...tis clear that I used an often 'quocqquial'  term   :shoot...as used in the Olde Baily...where the defendent is usually guilty by the use of an incorrect word....{Company or Happy}

:sobbing :sorry Eddy......:nahnah :hehe :hehe :hehe....pitty about spell check

Hey Pd's,

Well, even if there is nobody else on during the evening hours, it's always entertaining when I come back on in the morning and get to read all the banter from the previous night. :) My hope is that there are a lot more Yanks viewing surreptitiously who can be encouraged to join, thus again allowing the sun to never set upon the British (PD) Empire.

Eddy, a couple of nights ago I noticed 13 guests while I was here...all... by :'( myself :'( :'(, all those were spiders? I remember that previously spiders were visible in the who's on line section, not that I want them to come back, but there's still the question; How much of the site can guests see?

I've stopped normal users from seeing the spiders in who's online section - it seemed to worry some people, so it's probably better that you don't see them ;)

Guests can see ALL of the site, they just cannot do certain things such as post messages, upload files, enter websites etc. Enabling those would leave us wide open to the idiots that are out there!

Oh, just to clarify, they also cannot view the member listing, and a few other bits. But they can see all of the basic website.

To list everything would take too long!!  :D

Thanks Eddy,

That is pretty much what I thought. So lets say that I want to rant about more Yanks joining the ranks,  ;) they'll see it and they will obey (couldn't find a smilie with hypnotized eyes, so insert imaginary one here). That's good to know.

Hi Randy,
The solution is quite simple, have the USA rejoin the British Commonwealth. I think we could probably divide you up into 4 or 5 provinces.

Hello all, well when I checked the PD's forum this morning it was obvious that this is the best Paddler forum around, the number of spiders on certainly verified that.
Maybe the spiders were hidden in case our antipodean friends were worried there were a few funnel web spiders in amongst their computers and just dying to get out ;D As you mention Randy it is always refreshing to come in by and check what has been happening over the work / sleep part of the day we've completed.

#Imagine in this day and age NOT being able to check the forum during work#  :squareone I'll have to talk to the IT boys and get some dispensation I think.

Remeber this though Randy no matter where you are or what you are doing or with whom, you're never alone within Paddleducks  :no1b

cheers

I think I may have stumbled upon my own answer!

It may be necessary to open this forum up to other language groups. I therefore offer the following invitation thanks to Google Translate;

Hola amigos y amigas,

Lets stick to English please  ;D

I have enough problems sorting messages in my native tongue, nevermind trying to do it in dozens of languages!!

Very funny Randy  ;D ;D will have to moderate any non-English communications unfortunately. The forum is based in Britain and the language we use is English ( although Scots would do) sadly we have to draw a line with Spanish and I know this will alienate many possible members as would any other language. We are a bit like the aviation industry as long as everyone communicates in English no matter how badly we should all get along nicely.

cheers

Sorry,  :-[ didn't mean to offend the Administration. Let's just consider that the invitation, all further communications will be in English.

I've learned to take most everything on this site with a dash of humor and I hope that my twisted sense of humor comes across as well. I can take it and I can dish it. :P :P :P

The earlier Youtube was Elvis Presley 'Are you lonesome tonight?'.
Here is the group Mamas & Papas, which I have just been playing at 11.30 eastern Australia, 18.30 Pacific USA.

This may bring me to the end of the easy ones.
* www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6d03gbmAzc: I left my harp in Sand Crab's bistro [the punchline of a lengthy and convoluted shaggy-dog story].
* www.youtube.com/watch?v=awbGc8XPFJ8: Al Jolson 'California here I come'.
* www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1xSt7iganA: Johnny Cash 'Folsom Prison Blues'.
* www.youtube.com/watch?v=6LmxtcVklQc: Beach Boys 'California girls'.

I gave up with 'City of Angels': all I could get was a junk movie, and not the witty stage musical, which was the source of the two liner:
'Boss, how can I raise $1000 bail for you by morning?'.
'Babe, sell your body, 1000 times'.
