Hey Eddy,
I've noticed whenever I'm on the website that the clock and calendar date for my personal profile and menu do not reflect the local time. So is it possible for us mere end-users to change the time and date for our personal profile and menu? If not, what time zone is the clock set to? I'm sorry if this is covered elsewhere I just don't know where to look.

No problem Randy....
Click on "Profile" at the top of the forum, then click on "Look and layout preferences", and you'll see the "Time Offset" - Click on the link next to that which says "Auto detect", and it will synchronize with your local timezome.....
It sounds complicated, but it takes longer to explain it than it does to do it!! ;)

Just in case the "Auto detect" function doesn't work - It rarely fails, but just in case - The forums server is on GMT, so you can manually enter your timezone based on the difference with Greenwich Mean Time.

Thanks Eddy, that did it. Now I'm not so confused when I come on to the website and see not only a different time but also a different date on my profile.
Which raises another question; As the sun is setting on the British mainland, we here on the western seaboard of the States are about to enjoy our noon meal.(GMT -7 hours= PDT) But, are we not enjoying the same day? I appreciate that when our friends in the land of Oz are enjoying their noon meal, the sun is setting on the previous day for us "left coasters" due to the International date line. But that doesn't effect the date between you and I does it? provided, of course, you have not crossed midnight.
You know what, after thinking about it, you have crossed midnight (at the time of this posting) and since I hadn't reset my clock, it continued to show the next day. Problem solved.
I'll go ahead and post this message anyway just so anyone else who is curious about the matter may have the same epiphany without the expenditure of a lot of gray matter. Thanks again, Randy the Dinosaur Soup Man

Hello Randy, you really haveto give my son the recipe for Dinosaur Soup man ;) On a previous thread Derek_Warner one of those OZ paddlers :beer and appreciative of the odd :beer or :beer had a similar problem with the time differences.
We have a chat night on Skype on a Thursday evening British Time where a few die-hard modellers :gathering meet up to put the world to rights. It is mentioned in this link

Hi PD's & yes Randy....Jim :hehe..is correct here....with the PD SKYPE facility which was great literally :breakcomp :clap :ranting on line at the same time in ..........was great.......
However my situation is an 0700 AEST work start..which means a 20 Km trip to work....then 20 minutes at work...then 20 minutes drive back to log on to PD Skype...talk for 60 minutes then....20 minutes back to work & being self employed I could not afford :nono ....the 120 minutes per PD Skype day per week even as much as I enjoyed the time on line
If you are in a position or time zome to log onto PD Skype you will enjoy your time there....regards - :)

Well that's a whole lot better. Previously it was like logging on to the "Twilight Zone". Everyone else was a day ahead and nobody seemed to be posting/visiting while I was here. I have downloaded SKYPE and will give it a try as soon as my work schedule permits. From what I'm gathering from previous threads, I'll need to log-on on Thursday between 2-4 p.m. local time in order to catch you Brits between 9-11 p.m.. We just went from PST to PDT, 3 weeks earlier than usual. So keep the rest of the world updated on when the Isles go to BST.
Jim-re; recipe for Dinosaur Soup.
I'm a waterproofing contractor. I hot-mop shower pans, that is, waterproof a shower stall before it is tiled/marbled/limestoned etc. I use tar/pitch/bitumen/asphalt (choose appropriate designation for your neck of the woods) and felt/roofing paper layered to form a waterproof barrier to prevent the shower's moisture from rotting the wood framed construction typical to the homes built here in Southern California.
I derived the name from a commercial on TV here in the States back in the mid 70's when we were undergoing an "oil crisis" and rationing gasoline. Shell Oil (now part of BP I believe) was running a commercial in which cartoon dinosaurs turned into puddles of oil. Fossil fuels, get it? Well, tar is simply a byproduct of the crude oil refining process. With that in mind and showing up on the jobsite with my tar kettle, guys would shout, "Is it soup yet?" (another reference to a popular TV commercial here in the States, Campbell Soups). So I figure Dinosaur Soup would be a fitting name for my company. And I have received a lot of work simply on the name alone.

Hello all, thanks for the recipe Randy. A great name to trade under I bet the work is always on the boil. I just wish somone had done that when our house was built :( I changed the built in shower for a slot in cubicle and when taking the old out I demolished a lot more than I thought possible with a 7lb sledgehammer. I was expecting a couple of hours work in the end it took a day and a half to sort it out.
Derek, I didn't realise that you were at work when we chatted. Give us a more convenient time and we'll see what we can arrange. You never know we may even get a three continent chat going yet ;D
Tell me guys, in the UK we do change the clocks on Easter Sunday this year don't we? If so I'll definitely have to remember to change all of the clocks as I have to catch a flight and a connector flight to England on Easter Sunday.
