Title: Four paddle steamers in one day

Hi PD's,

today i sailed with four of the five lake Lucerne paddle steamers :wink: the only one i missed was the PS Unterwalden. First we left from Lucerne with PS Uri from Lucerne to Fluelen then with PS Gallia from Fluelen to Brunnen then with PS Stadt Luzern from Brunnen to Bauen and at the end with PS Schiller from Bauen back to Lucerne. At the beginning the weather wasn't really nice but it became better and better in the afternoon.

Nice one Hans :D   The best we can do at the moment is two paddlers in one day :(  :(

In the thread 'Swiss paddlesteamers', I put up several photos of two parades in 2005:
* On Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Luzern) for the centenary of PS Schiller (five PS and two MV in the parade).   Sat.13.5.05.
* On Lac Léman (Lake Genève) for the return to service of PS Savoie (five PS and one PV).  Sun.21.5.05.
I didn't get to ride all in the one day: I spent each day on just one PS, making it tricky to get shots of the whole fleet in one view.
Hans contributed some shots of the Vierwaldstättersee fleet to that thread.  There are lots more paddlesteamers spread over different lakes in northern Italy, Switzerland and southern Germany: close, but not on the same waterway.  There is a separate thread on PS Neuchatel.

Elsewhere, it has been mentioned that the largest single fleet of paddlesteamers is at Dresden, Germany, (nine PS, not five).  A main aim of a friend from Mildura on his recent Europe tour was to spend a day at Dresden, and he did (I haven't seen the photos yet).  He was also trying to fit in a day on PS Waverley, as the west highlands program coincided with his dates.

In Australia, the Mildura/Wentworth area has three PS (plus lots of PV): PS Melbourne (commercial), PS Ruby (heritage) and PS Tarney (private).  Echuca is the only centre where you could ride on six in the one day, while viewing lots of private ones.
* Commercial: Adelaide, Pevensey, Alexander Arbuthnot, Emmylou and Canberra (plus Hero going for survey).
* Private: Billy Tea, Adventurous, Perricoota, Jaimes Maiden, Henry Charles, Etona, Britannia.
On typical scheduling, it should be possible to ride on four in in a day: three short cruises, plus an evening dinner one.
In the Echuca thread, Michael has a photo showing a guest celebrity walking across most of the fleet in only a few minutes, at a special raft-up of commercial and private vessels as part of the 2006 Heritage Festival.

I have seen PS Monarch, PS Kingswear Castle, PS Waverley, Paddle Tug John H Amos and PS Medway Queen in a day ! 3 of them working too . . . .
