Title: DVD of - Paddle Steamer Memories ("lots of 'em")
Post by: Brian on June 06, 2007, 07:09:25 AM
.
While enjoying a recent trip on board PS Waverley (Clevedon - Ilfracoombe and back), a DVD titled - "Paddle Steamer Memories" was purchased.

It is very interesting to see so many of the old (and very old) paddle vessels. The DVD included some movie films which are over 100 years old, and the ships themselves being older. So the viewing of over 100 paddlers from all around the UK coast may most likely also be enjoyed by fellows members of the Paddleduck community.

The DVD is produced by "The Paddle Steamer Kingswear Castle Trust" so may also be available from PS Kingswear Castle.

It is recognised that although this is not a book or magazine, it does give many interesting pictures and facts.

Title: Paddler Videos

This is my favourite video and can be ordered on line from the Kingswear castle shop along with another five or six excellent paddler videos- some with very early footage which ha been digitised to the point where it is almost like new. They also have a new release, Volume 2 of Campbells steamers, this one is a DVD rather than a video. Have a look at their site and remember, if you buy from Waverley or Kingswear Castle every penny of profit goes into the ships preservation.  regards, walter.

Have just watched volume 2 of Campbells, nice addition to my collection. My uncle narrated it.

Be nice if they re-released volume 1 on dvd . . . .

Chris, volume one IS out on DVD and the quality seems better than the  VHS format. Rumour has it that PsPs Scottish Branch may well be compiling a DVD of Clyde steamers- now  that WILL be worth looking out for as their members can amass an enourmous amount of film footage!. regards, walter.
