Title: The Paddle Duck is Back

I'm so glad to see the Paddle Duck logo, its my favorite!

Hehehehe I just had an idea for my next model paddler.....the "Paddle Duck" I'll get a suitable rubber duck and turn it into a paddler!

On behalf of all of us I wish to sincerely thank Janice in Toronto, Canada who designed the original "Paddle Ducky" and reworked it for the new web site.  Well done Janice..GREAT JOB!

Her brother is a very talented guy and look what he made!  Janice sent it to me for my last birthday..isn't it neat?

Thats what I want to do!

Hey we could have a competition, most creative paddler rubber duck! hehehe that would be funny, you could end up with stern wheel, side wheel, centre wheel (Bunyip Ducky!) Different coloured ducks, international paddle ducks.

I think its a really creative idea and would offer a bit of a difference to modelling paddlers!

I agree Paul, Janice has done a superb job.... I've always loved the paddleducks logo!

Talking of making a model duck with paddlewheels, I thought about making a fully RC working model using the Graupner wheels, but that would need a duck 15" 20" long - I searched and searched but never did find anything suitable :-(

One of these days I might just find something that I can use....

Now, funny enough, I drew out a design for one after seeing a R/C duck (or was it a goose) at a model show.  This was before I'd heared of the paddleducks site. I think it must've had a prop and rudder but my 'idea' was to have a paddleshaft and yellow plastic webbed feet as floats (3 or 4 to each side) that would disappear under it's wings giving, I thought, a more realistic appearance of a duck - I would have used a realistic decoy-type duck rather than a bath toy!

I've seen a lot of r/c decoys. Some looked like real mallards swimming in the pond. I definately wouldn't run it as a decoy to draw in ducks. Some dummy would shoot it.

I fancy the idea of duck racing !  Standard decoys available in most UK gun-shops for under £5.  Different species and "scale"colours so you know that you are driving the right one. Specify a cheap class of motor ( no outrunners or lipos ). Some basic rules and go in heats for some entertainment and fun for spectators at model boating events. Drag racing and circuit racing , slalom etc. Drags would be good for an International Postal event. Any takers ? :lol:

That sounds like a very good idea!!!
someone'd probably fit one with a kort-nozzle then you could have a steering contest...
