I'm five weeks into recovery from surgery on the back of my neck to stop Paralysis in my legs and hands. They removed the bone on the back of four vertebrae to relieve pressure on the spinal cord. So far I have regained 85% use of my right hand, which is a real joy to me.  My left arm and hand work but have a lot of electrical shocks going through them yet.  My lower left leg still feels like it is wooden but I do have good use of it although I walk like a drunken sailor (an old experience from my Navy days revived).  :beer  :nono   Right foot some what numb. All are improving daily. Typing is still a chore (left fingers have a mind of their own) so not communicating much but have enjoyed browsing through Paddleducks (what little there has been).  I'm on the rebound, been getting out for coffee with friends and walking a lot, got in 3.6 miles the other day. Also getting back into model work some.  :clap  :clap2

Best thing going for me is I have been fiddling around in my shop for a couple weeks, maybe a half hour at a time every few days. Have been building on a wobbler steam engine kit just to get my hands back into usage.    So far I have the frame machined, drilled and ported for steam and exhaust,  The cylinder is turned, bored and ported.  Being used to doing very fine work in miniature for years it has been kind of hard to accept the crudeness of my present work but it will improve as I learn to adapt to my physical changes.

If I get the OK from my surgeon  Wednesday I hope to take the motor home to the coast for the weekend. Depoe Bay, Oregon is holding its annual Wooden Boat Feastable and Crab feed.  Can't miss that.   :clap2

Good to hear your on the mend Bill....

After having three lots of spinal surgery myself I know what it feels like afterwards - Not nice!!

But now that I have 15 screws, three titanium rods, and a titanium cage in my lower back the X-Rays are impressive! :)

Well I didn't get any of that fancy titanium jewelry   Sort of wish they had given me some kind of cage or support back. I am now weaning off my neck brace. The old neck muscles really let me know they don't like the work.     :hmmm    Amazing how heavy one head is when you are trying to hold it up with some of the support removed.  But I am very happy with modern medicine.  Really happy it is working for you too.
