I didn't see PV Gnatty this year, but I did see this one, PV Lil' 'Sipp'.
I never did get to meet the owner, and the festival catalog book is not yet printed, so I know nothing about it.

I dont mind "Lil' Sipp"!! It looks like it could be a lot of fun.
And it doesnt look much bigger than my hull... So.. who knows?!?
Still a little dissapointed I couldnt make it this year, the last couple have been brilliant though!

Cormorant had been brought from Canberra to Goolwa Wooden Boat Festival. Here it is after being trailed back as far as Wellington, to spend the next 4 weeks heading to Renmark.
This was the boat which had new ribs and copper nails.
I didn't think to ask if the old planks had been recycled (saving a lot of steaming effort), or if the planks were new too.
I did drop the hint to the owner to find a storage yard at Wentworth, and at least have it at Junction Rally in July.
Again, I have no notes until the late festival catalog arrives.

The rudder on PV Lil' 'Sipp' looks to be of the type commonly referred to as a Barn Door, great for steerage but watch out for cross wakes or hitting snages.

Yeh it's a barndoor rudder. A common form of rudder on Murray Paddlers. The Port of Echuca have original rudders from Adelaide and Pevensey...both are taller than me.
They're very interesting, just to see how big they are.

That's true, you dont realise just how big they were until you stand next to one out of the water. You dont seem to see much of them when they are in the water - so it is an interesting thing to see.
