Title: PS Oscar W - wench photo
Post by: Roderick Smith on February 22, 2007, 06:13:07 PM
The opportunity for a pun was too great to resist (see the construction thread).
PS Oscar W is one of the great river travellers, and has been between Echuca (the place of its construction) and Goolwa (its home today) many times for many reasons.
On this occasion, it was part of the Randell Cadell 150th anniversary fleet, an event dear to the hearts of riverboat owners and enthusiasts.
The fleet had been running for about 4 weeks at this stage, and was about to arrive at the major river city Mildura, to a civic welcome (speech from the mayor; brass band) at Old Mildura Homestead.  Three ladies in the volunteer crew donned their Victorian garb in readiness.

I am trying to think of a pun involving the word 'ducky'.
However, I was in the very front row: for the first time in 30 years, I had my finger in front of the lens (inexcusable - it is an slr).
Here is my own contribution to the festivities (which you have seen in a different thread at a different event).

Roderick Smith (passenger) with an engineer aboard Oscar W in the Randell Cadell 150th anniversary fleet, on the Wentworth - Mildura day.  Sat.6.9.03.
