Ho Ho HO!
AC (After Christmas) I will be starting (RE-Starting) construction of LENAat 1" to the foot.
Lena will be a guesstimation of the marine farm truck my 5th Greatgrandfather built on Sauvie Island in the Columbia in 1884.
I have only overall dimensions and a newspaper description which uses descriptive phrases like "plenty housing", "cog-rigged" and "Direct acting"
This, and the fact that she was built to run up smaller rivers like the Cowlitz and the Lewis would say she was of short stature.
But I find to run her locally I must have an "oil reclamation" unit on board. I cannot find any ideas for this!(It seems as if a tank where the engine (Graham tvr1) exaust could cool and the oil separate out would work.
ALL thoughts & Ideas will be considered!
Also an opinion is needed Grandpa Bonser was an experience stamboatman(on both the Columbia and the Ohio) (The B in U.B. Scott is for bonser)I would think that a horizontal boiler would be more logical even though steam donkey boilers were much more available.
Santa,for 12 more days
:D

Good to see your back with us Dave!
I would imagine that by oil seperator, they basically mean a condenser, but I'll leave the guys that are more knowledgeable than me to go further with that one.

If you take a look at the ACS Engineering website, Sandy (the owner) lists a condenser as one of the items he manufactures...

Sandy takes an active part in the forum when he has time, and I know quite a few of our members have dealt with him (including me), so I have no hesitation in recommending him!

When I get far enough that I am putting plans on paper I would Like to be able to send/show it to someone who could pronounce on it's appearance versus the era and it's probable ability to perform on the pond.
At this point I see a hull like an ice cube tray with a curve and open deck at the bow. her depth of hold was 3 ft and she drew 18 inches loaded. at 9 ft wide she was a workboat for the small rivers!
Any Volunteers?
I figure to do my "thinking" at 1/2 of the modeling scale which would be 1" to the foot (45 " overall)

Any body know a date for "Monkey rudders"?
