Here ( if I can post) is the wheel and 3 of the 6 rudders on the "RAWHITI" which worked on the Waikato river 1925-1949. she was then cut down to a barge and can still be seen on the river bank at Mercer

and here is Rawhiti again. From the right, Me-Manny Martin-Caesar Roose ( owner in front cargo door) at the wheel- Skipper -Billy Wade. we are just moving away from the Mercer wharf.

Nice photo of the wheel - shows the chain steering linkages in pretty good detail.

Lost count of how many times I drove past Rawhiti before learning about her history.

Kephere, a lot will depend on where you got the history from. If it's from a book "Bow waves on the Waikato" then you can forget it. All nonsense.
