Title: "Mull of Kintyre"
Post by: scotfriend on May 22, 2006, 07:39:58 AM
The Photos shows my model of the "Mull of Kintyre" a small paddler i have bought some year's a go on ebay, i do not know the name of the original kit model so i thought about a name for it and i think this on is not to bad. Last year i started to rebuild the wreck into a nice model, i is on a good way

Yesterday she made her first testride on the pond and everything went well, specially the wheels are good stuff, they are made from 1.5mm ABS and CNC machined.

Kind regards Hans

She looks lovely Hans - What motors/batteries are you using to power her?

When will she be for sale? :-)
Title: motor + batteries

Hi Eddy,

there is a Monoperm 4,5V motor with a two step Pilegear and a belt drive, the batterie is a 4.8V 3700mAh Nimh, with a BES system micro speed control. The first test was only about 20 minutes so i don't know how long it can sail but i think maybe around two and three hours.

Why i should think about selling the model before it is completed  this is my first paddle steamer model for years so i woun't think about selling for the next ten or more years

You can buy parts for the wheels the only thing we should know is the diameter. The wheels on the model are 75mm diameter i think every measurement from 50mm to 200mm is possible (2" inch up to 8" inch) The idea is to sell only the wheels without paddles, maybe we create a design for Riverboat's as well as a feathering type paddlewheel this with all parts you need.

Best regards Hans

Hi PD's,

my PBM paddle steamer is now completed and today she made her maidenvoyage on three different lakes in Switzerland. Lake No.1. Schwarzsee near Davos, lake No.". Lake Werdenberg near Buochs, and No.3 Lake Waegital. Have a look to the photos.

If it's the PBM 'edwardian paddle steamer' kit, mine had the name 'Lady Jane' in decals, but I changed it to 'Royal Connaught'
Your model looks great, those wheels are a great improvement on the ones supplied with the kit (which were OK as far as it goes, but had only six floats and all angled as they would be on a feathering wheel when leaving the water - works fine until you reverse!) and it appears to have transparent windows in the deckhouse...... :)

It looks great Hans - That Swiss scenery just sets it off to a tee!

The colour scheme is pretty nice too! ;)
