I've been trying to get a set of the Taubmans Plan Service Zulu plans from Loyalhanna Dockyard for some time now. Zulu's the Indian Lake and river sternwheeler that has been mentioned a few times in the forum over the past year or so.
Don at Loyalhanna has advised me last evening: "The supply house that provides those plans is going through a bankruptcy proceeding right now and can't fill any orders. It is hoped that they will be reorganized soon and once again be able to fill orders."
On the subject of Zulu, assuming that bankrupcy usually results in death by a thousand paper cuts, is anyone able to help out - am happy to pay dearly for a set of plans to fall off the back of a passing large-sheet copier!!!
On the subject of Taubman's Plans generally, what a terrible loss to the marine modelling world if this service can't be resurrected. I've used them several times and have always been hugely impressed with the service, the detail on the plans, and the variety of plans available.
Many thanks
Tony

Tony,
It's not Taubman thats going into bankruptcy.....
The plans come from Model Boats magazine who were owned by Nexus - They had financial problems and called in the receivers - They were eventually bought out by Encanta a couple of months ago.
John Cundell, the editor of Model Boats magazine says that they are working to setup a new website with online ordering for their plans - That *should* be up and running sometime next month... If so, you could then order direct from them rather than using LoyalHanna/Taubman.

Hi Tony,               Â
finally I found all the back-issues of the "Zulu".Last week I had
a telcom with John Cundell(editor of MB)and in a longtime call I
heard about all the problems they have.
In a new MB-List about all the old drawings the PS is anymore
mentionned.
Anyway about this, while searching in my photo-archive for some other
photos of model steam boats from the mid-end eighties of steam rally's
in France.I found some pictures about the "ZOULOU" similar to the Brit
ones, which was build by a Swiss guy in that time, but I can't find his
address anymore. His friend,at that time was running a model steam shop
near the Swiss/French border.
I send some research-mails within France to locate them, but for today
without result.(Easter holidays)
So far I remember the name was something likes Gruchti or Frurti but
sounding likes that.May be our Swiss Scotchfriend and also forum member
can help us to trace them.Â
This evening I will check some old MRB's, (a French model Magazine)
to find out.
That's it for the moment, will keep you infod.
To all Happy Easter Holidays.
Best regards
Henri

Thanks Eddy and Henri. Nice model. Steam-powered or electric?
I know that set of articles from our club library back-copies of MB. Hope that they get things sorted.

Henri, re above. While you are checking your back copies of MRB, look out for an article for me which they published along with a plan for a French sternwheel gunboat of very nice proportions!. My copy disapeered some time ago. If you have it, could you either post it on site or mail me a copy ?. Thanks, walter.

Walter, please tell me at least the year of issue or/and the name.

Funny thing happened last night - I arrived home to find a package from Loyalhanna Dockyard containing plans for the Zulu - only 9 months after ordering them!
Don assures me that supply is now back on track. More than I can say for the Model Boats website...
Great plans though - very thorough.

Great news Tony - I don't suppose there's any chance of getting a copy from you? I've been looking for them for years!!
Obviously I'll happily pay any costs involved, and could send it via Paypal immediately if you have a Paypal account?
