Title: Tug towing competitions
Post by: Eddy Matthews on March 20, 2005, 05:59:48 AM
Hi Guys,

I was just reading through the Model Boats forum earlier, and noticed that there were lots of tug towing competitions advertised - I wonder what they'd think if I turned up with a sternwheel towboat and entered one? :-)

In fact I don't think I've ever seen a paddle driven tug being used in a competition - Surely someone has done it, as tugs are very popular subjects for working RC models....

We have faced them up and had pushing contests. In the real world sternwheelers up to 500hp are more powerful and fuel effcient than screw driven boats, but above that the screws win over.
