Title: Brass & how to keep it CLEAN?????
Post by: derekwarner_decoy on February 05, 2006, 04:53:40 PM
Hi PD's - on my day off @ the sunny Whyalla steel works I have been looking [via the links page @ the JMC site] at some bright & shiny brass engine/boiler components & tube work on what appear to be operational vessels [as opposed to museum pieces in glass cases]

Question is - how do they preserve brass/bronze/copper components surface :?:  - 'Tarn-Off' nor 'Goddards' chemical cleaners do not release the oxides that form on these non ferrous metals, however the components do not appear to be lacquered or :thinking, do they wash the components in Coca-Cola, then rinse back off with water because the fumes got on their eyes :sob

I would pen a note to JMC [himself], but considering he still has not responded to a question re my >+$1000.00 AUD payment for my JMC engine leaves me a little COLD - Derek
