I was forced to chuckle over the Christmas break........
For those of you familiar with the Proud Mary operating out of Mannum in S. Aust, it is a mock stern-wheeler which is not driven by the wheel.
The wheel has been the subject of many jokes, as it does not even turn at the same speed as the vessel moves. I noticed over the holiday period that the wheel has now been completely removed.
It is actually an improvement!!!!!
I will post a photo as ASAP

....the Proud Mary operating out of Mannum in S. Aust....
Is that named after the song by Credence Clearwater Revival
...."But I never saw the good side of the city
Till I hitched a ride on a riverboat queen
Big wheel keep on turning
Proud mary keep on burning
And we’re rolling, rolling
Rolling on the river"
Got anymore songs with paddlesteamers in them?

Definitely not so Proud.
Saw the Proud Mary again this W/E and she has undergone a complete transformation. The mountings for the stern wheel have now been removed completely. The colour has been changed from white with red to white with blue and the name is now ..... errrr.... the Expedition or somesuch unadventurous name.
It is officially no longer even pretending to be a paddler!!
Goodbye and good riddance.
