I just wanted to say a quick "thankyou" to Mick Thomas (mjt60a). I asked him a few weeks ago if he'd be prepared to build me another paddlewheel for the Suter as I wasn't happy with the one I'd made... He immediately said yes, and the said wheel arrived in the post today - To say I'm over the moon is a total understatement!
It's absolutely superb Mick and I'm delighted with it!

Mick is wonderful when it comes to wheels! My custom made half wheels for my Alexander Arbuthnot which Mum recevied (because I was on work experience) are brilliant...and Mum was amazed too. I haven't constructed them yet (no time....exams YAY :( ) but I've done a kind of dry run and they fit a dream.
Mick sorry that my present for you is running late...my whole idea is that I'll take some photos of the wheels constructed and add that in along with the "special thing from Echuca (no it's not the Hero)" and then I'll whack it in the post and send it...so it's coming!
Thanks Mick...I'm sure anyone that receives your wonderous wheels will be really happy with the results!

Thanks for all the praise guys, sometimes I have to remind myself how I didn't have a clue about how to make them six months ago (until I got the copy of 'Model Boats' magazine with the article on building the Tipstaff - and especially how the wheels were made!) I have to make some more for a 'future' project that I probably mentioned before so I'll also make some more ebay ones while I'm at it :)

Here's a couple of photos of the new sternwheel Mick made for my model of the "Suter". I hope to spend some time next week doing a bit of work on her, so with a bit of luck I'll have some more photos soon to show some progress!

Wohhhh...now THAT is impressive...Mick how bout a masterclass on building these things?

That's a very nice looking paddlewheel and the bearing blocks look very good also.

Whilst I can't lay claim to making the paddlewheel, I did make the bearing blocks! :-)

I finally constructed my wheels too...ooooooooo shivers up the spine, they're really good! photos will first go to Mick though before anyone else gets to see them...I think that's fair.
