Title: Waverley Hulls
Post by: Bob_V on February 26, 2005, 09:43:58 AM
Some little time ago Walter suggested that there was a one-man hull maker in Scotland that made a 38 inch hull for the Waverley.

Is there any progress on identifying this individual?

Bob.

I think I may have the solution. A few months ago on the model boats forum someone asked about a chap called Gib Duthie. After I ask WHO? someone very kindly sent me his leaflet listing the hulls and Waverly is there. He sells them through Scoonie Hobbies but on the bottom of the leftlet there is his 'phone number and address. If this is of any use I will see if I can find the electronic copy and forward it to you. All it says is the scale and price with very little else detail but I have heard that his plans and hulls are some of the best you can get.

Regards
Daryl

Daryl has replied and for anyone interested the Waverley hull is scale 1/8" to 1' and measures 31" in length. Price quoted is £40 which includes a scale working drawing but not postage.

For the moment I have not yet checked with Gib Duthie re confirmation of price and availability.

If that leaflet is around, is there the Talisman on it too?

If so how much and what is the scale?

I desperately want to build a model of the Talisman and the Metcalf one is turning out difficult for me to get to Aus.

Thanks  Martin

I am a new member and reading through the forum, the 31 inch Waverley seems to be the sort of thing I am looking for.   Can anyone help me with the source of supply, please.   Many thanks,  Oldie

The small Waverley hull is available from:

Gib Duthie
21 Glenfield Avenue
Galashiels
Selkirkshire
Scotland
TD1 2AP

Tel: 01896-752415

I've never actually seen one of Gibs hulls, so I cannot comment on quality or accuracy...
