Title: P.S. Greyhound 'Buyuk Ada'
Post by: tonyh on September 11, 2005, 04:09:13 AM
Hi All,
After reading Andrew Gladwells first class book 'Lancashire Coast Pleasure Steamers' I would be interested in finding out what happened, to P.S. Greyhound. She is also featured in Bernard Cox's book 'Pleasure Steamers'.
Greyhound was a good looking boat built by J & G Thompson on the Clyde in 1925, flush decked, 542 gross tons, length 230 ft.
She saw service on the Blackpool Coast until 1923, when she was sold for service on Belfast Lough. She was then sold to Turkish owners in 1925 and renamed 'Buyuk Ada'.
This is where the story currently ends. Does anybody know what happened to her afterwards?

Thanks Tonyh

I noticed a photo of her recently in a Turkish  book, and my contact who researches Turkish steamers sent me the  following:

Thanks Alistair,
She is featured on the superb DVD "Paddle Steamer Memories", along with many others. This DVD is not to be missed for Paddler lovers.
