Title: Small sternwheeler
Post by: Joe E Brown on June 21, 2005, 06:59:43 AM
I'm doing a benefit show for a child with cancer in Hurricane, West
Virginia Sunday so I'll make a run down to Charleston to chase down
the small sternwheeler and get some pics. If there's someone around
that is knowledgeable, I'll get what info i can about the boat and
running gear.
Till then, have a good day.

The svensons site contains "Free Boat Plans from "Science and
Mechanics", "Boat Builder Handbook" and other very old magazines..."

Here's a couple of sternwheel ideas that could make good platforms
for oversized models.

Alas, no sidewheelers.

Interesting projects and a good basis for further work.
I notice the boy in the POGO is sitting very well forward, presumably to
balance the weight of paddle, which has a diameter almost half the boat
length!! Need to make it super light. The fishing one looks a better
proposition for fore and aft stability. Side paddles would of course let the
boat float evenly with the weight in the middle.
All the best
