Hi all, the mention of racing reminded me of a diesel! engined model
paddler my brother built in the early 1960s. It was from a plan
published a book by MAP titled either MODEL MaKER MANUAL or MODEL
MAKER ANNUAL (twodifferent books but i Cant remember which one it was
in!!). The model was a stepped hydroplane with a 1cc diesel mounted
across the beem with a wooden flywheel with two small paddles bladws
mounted on the rim. Boy, did it go- rememvber it would be doing about
6-7000rpm. The biggest drawback was in launching- it threw a wall of
water about 3 foot high and anyone near ot was guaranteed to get
soaked! Ah happy days....... Cheers for now Walter. PS Ive
remembered the name of the plan-SONIC SIPPI !
