PJ,
I have just attempted an upload of a photo of the Captain Sturt I
told you about. I have taken a number of other photos today and will
upload them when I finish the roll and process them. Let me know if
this one did not upload.

Looks excellent, Peter, and photo uploaded just fine. Ship looks
very interesting. Are those all solar panels (collector plates) on
the hurricane deck roof?
Would love to see more photos and especially hear about how the whole
thing is wired up and the current the system can generate on a
constant basis. It's a very neat concept.

Hi There Peter,
I take it the photo of Captain Sturt is a model? what
scale is it? and what is the actual size of the model, she looks
fairly large, are the solar cells driving the boat directly or are
they charging up a battery to replace current used........Details
Details please, this is a most interesting subject to me....Dai

Dai,
I will have some more detailed photos in a couple of weeks but until then the
following details are all that I can glean from the builder
LOA - 30" approx.
Beam - 7" approx.
Scale - eyeballed off a profile drawing and guesstimated the other dimensions.
The motor is currently connected directly to the solar cells and the 10 cells give a
total of 4.5 volts at 1 amp but he is looking into hooking up half in parallel and half in
series to increase amps. The motor is a solar motor but previously he had used a
servo motor, and had more power, the gear ratio is presently 57:1 but on the servo
motor was 87:1.
hope this helps until I can get more
Peter Webster :-)
