Title: Irrawaddy Flotilla
Post by: Dallinson on June 20, 2005, 05:43:51 AM
PJ et al.
Just ran across a site that has a number of pictures and some history of the
Irrawaddy Flotilla. Seems that it was quite a harsh river to work in.
Hope you find it interesting

Paddle Wheels recently published several photos of steam sidewheeler Myat Ya Da Nar, seen at Pagan by a British traveller. She is, presumably, a still-steam survivor of the Flotilla and one of a group built by Yarrows after the war.

Loved it, David...see how different those Irrawaddy sidewheelers are
to their Clyde sisters...and there's still one operating! Great page
for bookmarking..it also leads to all kinds of interesting stuff from
the Paddlesteamer Preservation Society and one could spend an entire
evening browsing thorugh their paddler pages.
