Has anyone built this boat out of the Model Boats plans range
and if so were their any unforeseen problems in building or sailing
her.
I intend to scale it up either 1 1/2 times or 2 times as it is
presently 27 ins LOA and a beam of 8 ins. which seems a bit small. I
understand that it will be strictly a calm weather model but the
larger size will hopefully give me a little extra freeboard although
the top structure will have to be very light.
Thanks

Hi Peter, I built Cleopatra when it was first publihed as a plan in
Model Maker some 40+ years ago. I increased the hull depth slightly
for greated displacement and water grip. Also increased the height of
the coaming inside the superstructure. I found that using the lay
shaft and pulleys as per plan caused too much friction and power loss
and if building it again, I would use a motor and gearbox belt
driving directly onto the paddle shaft. mount the motor above deck
level with the belt angled down to the paddle shaft. All the best,
Walter.
