Hi Pd's - for years I have been searching the WEB for a source of low voltage - low speed high torque motors without success [naturally for PS Decoy]
A colleague gave me an example of such a motor from a 10 year old VCR & I typed the code of PU45979P in to GOOGLE & the second site listed is
DONBERG Electronics in Ireland!!!! - the site indicates the are a rather large supplier direct from the individual component manufacturers as opposed to
purchasing from Sony or JVC etc & quoted as AUD$65.00 which sounds a lot but @ 6 volts spins @ approx 1000 RPM, near imposssible to stall
the 2.5 mm shaft between them & forefinger with the digital multimeter confirming just 1.1 amp current draw
NB - another KIWI site quoted NZ$97.00 for the same component - [Leight & Tony - can you comment here?]
So it's similar size to a 540 series motor, but with sealed ball bearing construction - I had posted on this motor a few months ago & termed it as a brushless
induction motor - this was incorrect as when I gently opened it up I found a baby slipring disk some 7 mm diameter and two very fine pre tensioned
beryllium copper slipring contacts - but like many things in life when I went to reassemble it it broke
So I hope DONBERG can supply two to link up with the ACtion differential speed controller on order - regards Derek
