At long last I have the photos back of the initial runs of my Pevensey
and will post after I post this.
Construction is a solid pine base 3/4ins (don't try this as although
it's strong it's also heavy) this has a 1/4ins of foam to help raise
the waterline and it works well. The superstructure is all balsa as
this boat, like me, has a weight problem. The model is powered by a
motor I got from Jaycar Electronics here in Melbourne and cost only
$6-95 to a homemade pulley and O-ring drive system. It is quiet on the
water except for that lovely "swish-swish" sound.It only has 2
channels in it due to it's small size. Lenght is 32 3/4ins, beam is 10
1/2 giving a scale of around 1/32. The next one I build will be much
bigger as this one is very dependant on calm weatherdue to the low
freeboard and I also want to add steam and sound.

She looks really good on the water. The bales of wool on deck look good too.
Steering should not be a problem with that rudder. Is it the door from the
sheering shed?!!??

A nice example of a great Murray River Paddler.
By the way I'd still use the heavy pine base on a scaled up version,
my P.S Industry was built with a 19mm thick 'breadboard' for the base
of the hull and I did not need any ballast to obtain a suitable LWL
Your wool bales are of course full of wool -- arn't they :-)

The rear bales of wool weigh in at a monstrous 0.9ozs (29gms) and even worse
the front Bales are a heavy 1.3ozs (38gms). They are made of white foam covered with
aircraft tissue soaked in waterproof PVA. They are used to cover the r/c gear in the
stern area and the 3.5 amp gel cell battery in the forward area and allows quick access
to both areas.

well Peter all I can say they look heavy, so must well reflect your model making talents
and yes what a great way to gain access to needed hold areas etc - regards Derek
