P.S. Albion 1/32 scale live steam model
Description: I am now the proud owner of this award winning 1/32 scale live steam model of the 1893 Paddle Steamer 'Albion'.  Built by Mr John Beddis of Bristol taking about 2000 man hours.  It had been up for sale for a while and a comment by a forum member was that a "bank loan would be needed".  Well that may be so, but eventually it was for a lot less than John had initially hoped for.

The model has a diagonal twin cylinder engine to the Edgar T. Westbury design, with 1 inch stroke by inch bore and Stephenson's valve gear.  Steam is provided by a gas fired Yarrrow boiler.  Overall it measures 76" (192cm) long.  I am about to start the process of getting up to date Boiler and LPG tank certification.

The real paddle steamer was built by J. & G. Thomson of Clydebank and was launched as the 'Slieve Donard' for the Belfast & County Down Railway. In 1899 she was purchased by P. & A. Campbell Ltd to operate in the Bristol Channel and along the South Coast. A bombing raid on Dunkirk during the First World War ended her service life but her engines were transferred to the 'Glen Gower', launched in 1922.
